Thomas Friedman: "Lunatic Israeli Settler Movement."
I missed Friedman's piece, May 11, where he called Israeli settlers "lunatic." I must not have been paying attention to Mr. Friedman; imagine that. I have a friend who swears he's pro-Palestinian from reading Friedman's books. What can I say when he tells me that he was educated by a Jew, therefore his resulting point of view is not anti-Jewish?

Note two letters in response to Friedman, one from a "bona fide member of the lunatic Israeli settler movement," living in Shiloh. I wonder: How did the word "settler" achieve such negative connotations? And how is it that Arabs and their proponents control the vocabulary of the media war?
