HAMAS dictating and Powell hallucinating

Defense Minister Sha'ul Mofaz told the Cabinet this morning that he has increasing doubts as to whether the PA even wants to fight against terrorism. He said that it's been three years now, beginning after the Camp David summit, that the Palestinian terrorism effort has continued - and the PA is evading taking security responsibility. Minister Mofaz feels that the PA has essentially deposited the key to diplomatic progress with Hamas, "as it's Hamas that is dictating the course of events."

Expressing once again Israel's lack of patience with the hudna (temporary cease-fire arrangement), the Defense Minister warned that if the PA does not take charge and the terrorism continues, "Israel will resume its full-scale active war against Hamas and the other terrorist organizations."

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, speaking today in Jordan, contradicted Mofaz by saying that he sees that the Palestinians have been taking more action against terrorism. (Arutz Sheva)
