Thank you for writing. The issues you raise are not simple. I will try to give a brief answer to each.

Israel has done thousands of things to make themselves safe from terrorism, and it has not worked. The only thing they haven't tried is to deal with the Palestinians out of respect. That is the only thing that can possibly work. That is as true of Israel as it is true of the United States. Dennis will work from a point of view that we must make friends rather than threaten enemies. Yes, we will maintain a military force, and security measures, but those alone will never be enough. IF we would not have nurtured terrorists, but had delt with their concerns by respecting them, we wouldn't have so many enemies to worry about. As Ben Franklin said, "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." We cannot remain free if we rely upon force and terrorism ourselves. We must also rely on truth, honor, and respect, even with those that disagree.

We must move Israel and Palestine to see common interests and respect for each other. Without that, the terrorist attacks on each other will continue, with each trying to exact revenge for the past rather than reaching for peace now and providing for peace in the future.
