AFP: Israel split over how to end violence - - "Current Labour leader and former premier Shimon Peres said after talks with French President Jaques Chirac in Paris that while he was "not against" the [Geneva] initiative, more energy should be invested in the internationally backed peace roadmap launched earlier this year.
That blueprint, which envisages a Palestinian state by 2005, has been stalled by the continuing violence."
