Letter from Raz Telchai

Dear Chevrah,

My name is Raz Telchai. Some of you may know me, from Pro-Israel activities in the Denver/Boulder Area, my letters to local newspapers, or my participation with Jewish youth on CU campus.

I am director of the Jewish Identity Center in Boulder, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to reaching out to, and educating, youth and others in being strong, proud supporters of Eretz Yisrael.

In January I will be leading my first trip to Israel as a madrich (counselor) on an IsraelOutdoors program. When I accepted this position, I was so excited to have been sought out by this organization, and to have the opportunity to lead a group of (more or less unidentifying or unaffiliated) Jews, that I did not think through the realities of the situation.

I -like many others- live check to check, just being able to pay my bills, working 40 hours a week. So who am I to take 12 days off work? Well, the truth is I did not think of this. I was just excited about the opportunity presented to me. Although my trip to Israel and room and food are all paid by the Birthright program, it is my responsibility to get to New York and back. This is where I am having problems.

I very humbly ask for your help to make this trip a reality. You can make small (or large :-) ) donations to:
Jewish Identity Center
P.O. Box 426
2525 Arapahoe Ave.,Suit E4
Boulder Colorado 80302
This is a wonderful opportunity for us to make a difference in these young peoples' lives. I thank you again.

Raz Telchai
Director: Jewish Identity Center.
