LA TIMES OP-ED
This piece gets off to a great start: the title is "Don't Let the Bombers Win." But then, later on, the writer loses me: "Pictures of buses blown apart in Jerusalem and slain Israeli settlers in the West Bank city of Hebron cannot be allowed to determine whether peace prevails."

1. The problem may be construed by this writer as being "pictures of buses," but for Israelis the problem is not pictures, but rather that they themselves, or someone they love, can and do get murdered on a bus . . . or in a mall, or driving along the highway. It's not the pictures that's preventing peace, it's the hideous reality.

2. Okay, now look again at the next part of the sentence, to the effect that slain Israelis should not affect whether peace prevails. What then, would affect whether peace prevails? Somehow, a prevailing peace that includes "slain Israelis" doesn't sound like peace, wouldn't look or feel like peace. What are they talking about?!
Kudos to the Rocky Mountain News
See today's editorial, "Mideast conflict lands in mayor's race" for a clear and concise indictment of CCMEP, the Colorado Campaign for Middle East Peace, based on the sorts of opinions hosted on their website. The conclusion? "You don't have to be a hard-core supporter of Israel to find this sort of stuff offensive. Hickenlooper is right to be "horrified" by the group's positions . . . "

My thanks to the Rocky Mountain News for the expose.

I don't think they really want peace: They're Killing Us, and Killing Us and Killing Us
At about 5:14 pm on Monday, an Arab terrorist scum-bomb blew up in the Amkim Shopping Mall in Afula, murdering four and wounding at least 20.

In Gaza today, an Arab terrorist scum-bomb on a bicycle sidled up to an IDF jeeep near Kfar Darom and blew himself up, injuring three IDF soldiers.

Gunfire was directed at a Gaza Coast Regional Council employee near Rafiach Yam, but he was not hurt.

Terrorists fired at a bus on the Karni-Netzarim route, but no one was injured.

Terrorists launched two mortar shells at Jewish communities in Gaza.

In the Negev region, a construction site near the Sapir college in S'derot was hit by a kassam rocket; two young people were treated for shock.

Police said the explosion in Tel Aviv was not a terrorist attack. A gas canister exploded at the entrance to the Giraffe restaurant on central Tel-Aviv's Ibn Gvirol Street as it was being unloaded from a truck.

Replace the Road Map
Replace the Road Map with either the Elon plan (see below) or the Dershowitz plan.

March 11, 2002, Alan Dershowitz published (op-ed, Jerusalem Post) a plan that I believe deserves serious consideration:

"An alternative approach would be to announce in advance that Israel is prepared to give back most of the occupied territory in the event of peace -- which it has already essentially done -- but every act of terrorism will result in an automatic and permanent decrease of a specific portion of the land mass that eventually would constitute the Palestinian state. Again, this decision would have to be announced in advance with the approval of all Israeli parties who would be involved in a peace deal. The land that would be surrendered by the future Palestinian state to Israel in response to every terrorist act would be immediately annexed to Israel and be deemed a permanent part of the Jewish state, ceded to it by the deliberate acts of the terrorists. This would send a clear message that every act of terrorism will hurt the Palestinian cause, making a reality out of President George W. Bush's statement following the terrorist murder of Daniel Pearl: '[Terrorists] need to know that these crimes only hurt their cause.'"

Right on, Alan.
But, of course, Israel is blamed for "failure" of talks
"The talks ended in total failure because Sharon insisted on discussing only security matters and refused to accept the road map plan for peace in the Middle East," a senior Palestinian official told The Jerusalem Post.

I can't understand it, Sharon is obsessed with "security"! What's his problem?!
NY Times publicizes the ELON PLAN: The Palestinian state is in Jordan
I can hardly believe it, certainly a stroke of good luck: In the NY Times Sunday, Week in Review section, James Bennett writes about Benyamin Elon, his view of this time as a "window of opportunity" for Israel to annex Judea, Samaria and Gaza, and the idea (shared by Sharon in his autobiography, "Warrior") that JORDAN IS THE PALESTINIAN STATE. Will wonders never cease: kudos to Bennett. "The Exit That Isn't on Bush's 'Road Map'" by James Bennett.
May the families of the dead be comforted among the other mourners of Zion and Jerusalem
Six of the seven victims of the Jerusalem bus bombing have been identified. They are: Nelly Perov, 55, Olga Brenner, 52, Shimon Osetinsky, 68, Marina Tzehiurishvili, 44, Ronnie Yisraeli, 35 and Yitzhak Moyal, 64 - all from Pisgat Zeev, where they boarded bus. The couple murdered in Hevron were Gadi and Dina Levy.

. . . and Again
What is it, three or four, attacks in twelve hours? In addition the murder of the couple in Hebron, there were two more "suicide" bombings. According to JPost, seven Israelis were killed and more than 20 injured Sunday morning when a scum-bomb blew himself up on a No. 6 bus in Jerusalem in the morning rush hour. According to police, this one, too, was disguised as a religious Jew.

Twenty minutes later, another scum-bomb blew himself up at one of those checkpoints where Palestinians hate to wait in line. Thank G-d for the roadblock: he left this world without taking any Israelis with him.

Ariel Sharon has postponed his meeting with President Bush.

CNN was despicable last night. The idiot reporter asked an emergency medical response team worker if this scene wasn't becoming very "familiar." Obviously bored with dead Jews, she wanted to know if Israeli rescue personnel weren't also finding it so. I could have vomited. The spin then became how the Palestinian Arabs have accepted the road map (killing more and more Jews all the while), but the Israelis haven't. The Israelis are throwing up obstacles to peace! It's unbelievable to hear such garbage when you're staring at what remained of that bus, at the Zaka workers, G-d bless them, retrieving every bit of flesh, to be properly buried.

Go to Charles' blog at littlegreenfootballs, "The Face of a Palestinian," to see the 19-year-old Arab engineering student from Hebron Technical College who carried beneath his disguise as a religious Jew, a "vest containing high explosives packed with nails, screws and chunks of metal" and blew himself up to murder Jews. This, alongside a quote from an International Solidarity Movement "human shield" -- "The Palestinian people feel they are ignored and denied a voice."

"You shall give the Land by lot as an inheritance to your families . . . But if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the Land before you, those of whom you leave shall be pins in your eyes and thorns in your sides and they will harass you upon the Land in which you dwell" (Numbers 33:52-6).
