AMMAN (AFP) - CNN reporter Rym Brahimi told AFP she had quit her job after her engagement last week to Jordan's Prince Ali, a half brother of King Abdullah II.

"Yes, I can confirm that I resigned because of conflict of interest," after the Friday engagement in Paris, said Brahimi, the daughter of the UN special envoy to Iraq Lakhdar Brahimi.

She said, however, that she will be working in Jordan as journalist for al Jazeerah although she did not elaborate.

"I will be working here soon, as I found another niche and in journalism of course," said Brahimi who had been working for CNN for the past six years in such hot spots as Iraq.

King Abdullah attended the private engagement, and the royal court said a wedding date has been set for September 7.
