The times they are a-changin'

Arafat kicks some Al-Aqsa Brigades out of his headquarters

This is interesting. Read it all.
RAMALLAH, West Bank (AFP) - Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat was accused of abandoning some of his own loyalists to meet their fate at the hands of Israeli forces after kicking them out of his West Bank headquarters.

"Yasser Arafat forced me and 20 of my comrades from the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades to leave the Muqataa," said one of the leaders of the organization whose ill-timed and bloody suicide operations have often embarrassed Arafat's Palestinian Authority despite its roots as an offshoot of his Fatah movement.

"Arafat has abandoned us. It's a crime, because we are above all members of Fatah and he should protect us," Ali Barghuti said Thursday. . . .

Palestinian political analyst Mahdi Abdelhadi said it was likely that Arafat had ousted the militants because he was angered by the Al-Aqsa Brigades' alliance with Hamas in joint suicide operations.

"Arafat sent a clear message about who the boss was and whom they should answer to," he told AFP.

Now this couldn't have anything to do with the recent demise of Yassin and Rantisi, could it? Or maybe Bush's outspoken criticism of the PA?

Nah, Bush and Sharon never do anything right - how could I be so stupid? Next thing you know, I'll be voting Republican. . .

The Shark might be voting Republican too (I don't know). He says, "Yes, it really does seem that a couple of well-aimed missles are far more effective than years of mushy diplomacy." Good job, good blog.
